Planning for the commercial
Planning blog
Props:
Since this is a gum based commercial, we need to emphasize and exaggerate the feeling you get from chewing gum. The flavors being watermelon and wintermint. Props include a picnic blanket (and watermelon) of some sort in a sunny area for that flavor. For wintermint, probably just those polyester foam and fake snow/snowballs.
Costume:
Starting off with the picnic, we will be wearing casual clothes representing the summer's temperature including shorts and a basic shirt (and maybe hats). Then jumpcut to jackets, gloves, and scarves to represent the sudden change to winter after eating wintermint. Basically classic Florida wear to somewere in the north pole.
Schedule:
9/17/25: research on previous commercials and what to expect
9/18/25: Storyboard of the 30 second commercial and what is needed in the film
9/22/25: establish what is needed for the props and the plans on obtaining the props/costumes along with a camera that we will use.
9/26/25: We will film all that is needed on that day for our commercial
9/29/25: all weekend will be used to add more clips and further editing to submit it.
Location:
Our main location is at a small field that is a "park" and while there might be people, there is most likely no people occupying that area. If it turns out to not work out, any park around the area may work and its really easy to switch to any park because the results will barely change. Since its pretty close to around the school, we can go for parks there as well. For the wintermint, it would be at nighttime, meaning we have to wait till it gets dark before we film that portion but otherwise in the same area.
Backup plan:
Weather is an evident issue since its hurricane season. If Friday doesnt work out, we can opt out for the weekend and any time that it doesnt rain. Else if the worst happens, we would just stay in Tyree's house and prop all we need by printing or buying grass paper and handmade trees to represent a park then film. All three of us should be at least one of the shots. If one is absent then will opt out for a family member to record. Since location is easy to fluctuate, weather is the main issue.
