AICE Media studies

 Second day of the recording arrives, the group and I meet up at the school's cafeteria after I talked about meeting up there. From there on, we will walk to a decent location to record. This time someone else will buy the props we need which are the edible props. According to the weather, it shouldn't rain that much so today, I should be able to get the scenes done. There is a local park so I set up the scene there for us. This time, redoing the scene until it is sufficient. Even if it doesn't turn out well, I will just use the scene anyway. Much more revisions are needed, as we are coming from school there is no way we are carrying a bunch of stuff. I opted to bring nothing and a bench to record on is enough. The camera stays a phone. Compared to the storyboard I made, it is basically void at this point. So much things have changed to make it more efficient for me to submit it on time. At the day of the recording, I looked through the storyboard and with what the circumstances is. Opted for a more popular version for gum as 5 gum specific flavors are exotic. I eventually went with what brand that would have the two flavors we originally had and it just so happens to be mentos. So in the end the brand was indeed switched and is now Mentos rather than 5 Gum. Now its time to go prop hunting, I went through the storyboard and established most of what the commercial needed and had some money and went to Publix and CVS for the gum and some props. Then after looking around for a good area to record, I sat down and went on to be inside the recordings for most of the scenes. One scene wasn't recorded and so opted for another day to finish up what was missing. However, as this was the first time I was recording, I think that this day was a draft day and if a good scene was recorded, we would end up using it over what I did that day. Before everything was even started, I came up with an idea of where we can record. For the film, we need an indoors area and an outside area for the flavor "feelings". Friends that are locals to my friends gave me the idea of a decent park nearby for recording. Fit for our description, I set the location for the group to record on along with the day. I had a rough idea of what the commercial would include but it would be better if we had a reference. So I took the time to draw a whole storyboard representing our events that would happen handy for when we need to remember what to record. Tweaks were then set up before the day of the recording as ideas contradicted. Ended up using the most convenient. I also ended up adding all of what we needed as of equipment for recording like cameras and potential mics but we didn't end up really using all of that. First scene: This scene includes us at Tyree's place hanging out maybe playing or doing some task but inside his apartment somewhere. The product won't be pulled out yet as this is a establishing shot of 3 or 2 of us (two/three shot). It is used to emphasize daily compatibility of 5 gum no matter where you are Second scene: This is where we pull out the gum and someone eats it. We will just be chilling and someone would just pull out 5 gum. This should be an extreme close up shot of 1 of us eating the gum. Still inside Tyree's house. Third scene: Because one of us ate the gum, we will emphasize its feelings by being transported (all three of us) to a park. This will probably be an action match into a high angle to establish the surrounding of the scene which is what the watermelon gum will transport us into along with a picnic. Acting confused Forth scene: We will relax in the scene taking in the surroundings and eat food at the picnic. Then we will zoom in again to a close...

  Planning blog Props: Since this is a gum based commercial, we need to emphasize and exaggerate the feeling you get from chewing gum. The flavors being watermelon and wintermint. Props include a picnic blanket (and watermelon) of some sort in a sunny area for that flavor. For wintermint, probably just those polyester foam and fake snow/snowballs. Costume: Starting off with the picnic, we will be wearing casual clothes representing the summer's temperature including shorts and a basic shirt (and maybe hats). Then jumpcut to jackets, gloves, and scarves to represent the sudden change to winter after eating wintermint. Basically classic Florida wear to somewere in the north pole.     Idea 1: Hot dogs. Tyree came up with the idea of hot dogs as our first product for our commercial specifically Oscar Mayers. Jamarcus said, "Hog dogs arent good and he doesnt like them." He feels like there are more creative freedom in other products. Da also thought that it was a terrible idea thinking a commercial on hotdogs when you have other better options out there is insane. Tyree came up with the idea because he really likes hot dogs and in the same day, he ate 9 hot dogs back in Iceland continuously. He is a big hot dog advocate and strongly support this as our commercial product. Due to out vote in numbers, we went against this idea. There wasn't much of an argument, when the words came out his mouth, it was basically an automatic no from the start by the way he said it.  In this group, we have about three people. At first, we had three also, but I'm pretty sure that dude left for a different group. First, me and Tyree has been friends since middle school 6th grade. Since this is a creative based film, its a no brainer to work with someone I spent so much time on projects with. And also I basically know nobody else in the class and its fine as long as there is at least someone I know. There was also someone else I knew that just moved in who is called Joquin. I dont know how to spell his name but it did just come but he was the one that moved out of our group. Then Jamarcus who also just switched in is now our third member. So its me, Tyree, and Jamarcus. I know Jamarcus a little bit but we chill so its fine. I plan on splitting the work based on what we are good at and hopefully get through this project without much issues. First blog, since this is about me, simply put, there isn't alot I can say. To introduce, my name is Da and I never really had any experience in any filming. Originally I did think that media studies were about studying media but for some reason didn't click that this would be a filming class. Not that I regret anything cause experience would be nice as I do like animating. Filming?? Can try it, should be pretty fun. I don't really have a lot of skills for filming however, I'm terribly mediocre at everything. I did use to have a video posting lots of video games from when I was a child and in a way filming could be a way for content adding on to something I already do. Though for now, I did quit, cause that game (Roblox) is going though lots of controversy right now, and talking about it wouldnt be too swell. Though so far its going to be a rough year with 5 AICE classes but I think I can pull through. From what I can see this would be a pretty fun class and maybe a way...
